Re: HR as a niche?
I love HR, too! I have a lot of general experience due to my employer. I have offered resume services in the past. I can help weed out resumes for employers, put together new hire packets, timekeeping, general benefits paperwork, disciplinary paperwork, etc. I have training and currently work with specific employer-related HR software and such, as well. I would like to be able to help construct new hire/company procedural manuals for new businesses. There really is a wide range of services you can offer within the arena, I think. It would depend upon what the client is in need for. They may need someone for their employees to go to for benefits information (you would need to be trained to be company specific). Maybe they need a VA to keep their employee files secure and all the information updated. Maybe a client needs some morale employee booster ideas or wants to research team building exercises...the list could go on, depending upon their needs.
I think it is a great niche! I currently work with 2 clients who provide services such as stragetic consulting for businesses - all along the lines of HR. They are both new clients, so I'm beginning to learn even more from them. It's great!
Good luck to you!! Keep pursuing!!
