Re: How did you come up with the name for your virtual assistance company?
I just finalized my name last week. I have spent since June 30 writing down words and phrases and asking family and friends. Even my neighbors at the bustop would give me a new name here and there that they thought of. I wanted something short and simple--2 words. Most of the 2-word websites are taken when you combine a mix of all the office, admin, etc. words I thought of. I have pages and pages and eventually plugged them into Word so I could scroll through them and connect some and look in the thesaurus too. I would take my thesaurus on vacations with me this summer in case I thought of a new word. I searched the website names forever and most of the ones I liked were taken. I absolutely loved Office Rescue, and I want to congratulate the Virtual Assistant who has that one and her website is great too. I narrowed it to my top 5 and emailed them around to my core family and friends for their opinions. Three of the 5 were pretty popular. One of them most of my non-working family/friends chose as their top one. So, I decided that I was not planning to appeal to stay-at-home moms. I was looking for something professional and to say what I was that clients would view me as. I thought I would be a business partner for some and an assistant for others. Hence, I came up with Office Ally. Actually, I think it was my sister who joined the two words together when we were brainstorming one day. I have not done my website yet, but plan on adding VA to the end since there is an existing Office Ally website for a medical claims company. I didn't want a name that connected with any other virtual assistants or admin-type company. I'm currently designing my logo for my business cards, and I think that's even harder!
