For the question on local businesses being a niche, I believe when someone mentions local businesses they are referring to businesses in their local community. I know when I started my business a zillion years ago, I actually went through the Yellow Pages and wrote those that I felt could use my services. Now I do more virtually though, although if a local business wanted my services, I'd be more than happen to work with them.
