I am just beginning my quest for VA business ideas and I am a Jill of Most Trades kind of lady. This thread has helped me tremendously by sort of brainstorming for me! My original idea for a WAHM business was transcription, and I am mostly interested in legal transcription (more interesting and it pays more), however, I do not think I will be happy with doing just transcription forever. I enjoy a diversified work environment, but I also realize that I don't want to get overwhelmed with having too many different things going on. So, for me, there is going to be a fine line between offering enough different types of services but not too many!
Right now, my idea is to target gyms, yoga studios, dance studios, martial arts studios, and childcare centers. I have noticed that there are many, many smaller businesses like these that do not have good websites or marketing tools because the owner doesn't have the time or experience to do "more" with their business. On the personal side, I feel like working with people in these industries will be more fun than some of the other industries people are targeting. I want to have fun with my business in addition to making money!
The services I plan to offer:
-Database management / maintanence
-Form creation
-Brochure design
-Spreadsheet design/creation
-Mailings (both email and snail mail)
-Proofreading / editing
-Setting up social networking / blogging interfaces
-Website management (I'm contemplating learning how to build them with HTP and CSS, but I do know how to work with widget-based sites)
-Bookkeeping
-Graphic branding via my graphic artist friend who might agree to be a subcontractor for me.
