Hi Cath - your website designer/developer is correct. Whenever my clients would get *old* information about adding keywords to meta tags or other tricks to get them ahead, I would also give them that information.
It's also important to make sure that the page will validate. Go go
http://validator.w3.org and it will show results of what needs fixing.
