I am very interested in quickly getting myself set up with a website, and I need an inexpensive, yet practical & smart solution. I've never done this before, and there is SO much information out there that I don't know where to begin. I don't mind trying to do it myself.

I want to have a website where I have my own domain. Wordpress.com looks interesting, and I believe I can buy my own domain with them. I'm not sure I understand the concept of buying a host subscription as well (ie. bluehost.com). There's also GoDaddy.com & Microsoft. I would eventually like to "own" my domain and be able to take the website where ever I want (if that makes sense).

If anyone can help explain this, or perhaps guide me to a place that explains this all in plain English, maybe on Youtube.com, that would be great!!
