Default Re: Should your domain name be the same as your business?
KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER:

# 1 Remember people have to spell/type it into the address bar (or search bar -if they do not know where the address bar is located- I actually have a long term client that after 5 years, still has no clue where it is)

Anyhow...
# 2 Keep in mind length, also lettering...
Example: I had a business called Hitch Hiking Horses. Com – very cute name, everyone loved it! That is until you have to spell it... Too many H's and it is very long. hitchhikinghorses.com see...

I have current clients I am building a site for, who are Farriers (horse shoers) Their business name is “Richmond Farrier Services” - but their domain name is “equinehooves.com”

-So to answer to your question: NO you don't have to have exactly the same name for your business and domain...

# 3) You just have to make the type of business and domain name relate to one another.
# 4) Make it easy and simple to remember (& to type).
# 5) When people open up your home page – that is where you want to concentrate on your branding (company name & logo) and that is where (& what) tells them exactly who you are!

Hope this helps you.

oh - as far as my VA business ~ domain name & Business name goes:
Virtual Personal Assistant (biz name) - it is who I am & what I do, but I already had a domain name of www.Brackneys.Com so I just added my Virtual Assistant Site as an add-on domain name (its free with my account) so my domain name is www.va.brackneys.com
(Brackney- being my last name) (;
