A lot of my videos on my channel revolve around my day-to-day work at home. Those, I tend to vlog using the YouTube Live Cam option...no software involved.

When I'm actually creating a video around people, events, attractions, etc (those videos tend to be for my Portland web site), I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. It does everything I need, plus much that I haven't even used yet.
