Default Re: Why should your business remain home-based? - TargetStars Blog
I'm probably going to be the only one here to say this but I wouldn't mind having a small office close-by which served the public directly. It is not that I do not love working from my home office...I do...and all the great perks which come along with it as mentioned here. But I do like working face-to-face with customers. (FYI, I do volunteer and attend functions, etc. to compensate.)

I like the idea of someone walking into my shop and consulting with me face-to-face about their needs. Sometimes phone calls and emails just don't suffice.

In the early years, I would do 'house calls' to seniors who wanted help with correspondence, paying their bills and tutoring on how to use a computer. I enjoyed that work very much.

So I can't say that if given the chance to open a shop, I would pass entirely. I would never give up being a business owner. But I think I would like the diversity of both working from home and from my own office. (I am in a warm weather climate and I have no small children.)

As for working for someone else; in someone else's office, well that is a definite 'no'.
